    Learn to Dive

Ocean Gear SCUBA Center has been a NAUI Training Facility since 1987.  We offer every training course and most Specialty Activities in the NAUI Recreational SCUBA Program.  Our staff is composed of both full-time and part-time instructors who are experts in the field of dive instruction.  With both a Course Director and an Instructor Trainer on staff, we can accommodate all your dive training needs.

Learning to dive is easy.  Choosing to learn isn’t always that simple.  You have to set aside some time and dedicate some money to completing the task.   At Ocean Gear SCUBA Center we believe that you should have choices.  We want the choices to meet your needs and unique requirements.  The standards for teaching SCUBA are determined by NAUI, the industry’s first and most respected certifying agency around.  While the standards are set, the manner in which we implement them is left completely up to the instructors you choose to work with.  We have included some of our formats for your review.  If you have questions, please contact us directly.  We’ll be happy to work with almost any requirements you may have.  The only format we will not adopt is a program where you race through the material so fast that you never truly become comfortable with what you need to know to stay safe.   Some aspects of training will not change, no matter what the format is.  There will always be a minimum of two pool sessions and five ocean dives.  These dives must take place over a minimum of two days.

    High School SCUBA Program

Our High School SCUBA Program was the foundation of our company.  Starting in 1976 by a group of SCUBA instructors who simply wanted to introduce the underwater environment to a younger group of people, our program has developed over the years to represent quality training at an affordable cost.   Our goal is simple:  Teach a safe program, have fun doing it and leave the diver with a greater understanding and respect for the world’s oceans.

Accordingly, some specialty courses are designed to provide more detailed training and result in additional qualifications.  In these instances the qualifications are described in the respective specialty course summary found in the enclosed articles.  Specialty courses provide divers the opportunity to enjoy organized diving which yields experience and documents training in specialized diving activities.
